Passionate Teachers

Charles Mendels

Our co-founder, Charles Mendels, clerked for the Honorable Douglas H. Ginsburg, a U.S. Supreme Court nominee, and was a litigator in Washington, D.C. During his legal career, however, he longed for his days at Columbia University Law School, where he was a beloved TA (teaching assistant) in Civil Procedure and Property law. His law students actually wrote letters to law school professors praising his exceptional teaching skills. Given his love of teaching, Charles left law to teach grades 7-12 at a private school. In 2002, he began privately tutoring the SAT and ACT. In 2006, he co-founded Access Test Prep & Tutoring.

His areas of tutoring include the SAT, PSAT, ACT, LSAT, GMAT, and GRE. Charles has scored in the 99th percentile on every test he tutors. He has helped thousands of students achieve their academic goals, changing the trajectory of the lives of many.

Access Test Prep & Tutoring Co-Founder and Chief Articulation Officer and founder of ProForm U, Elaine Rosenblum is a multi-hyphenate communications expert, visionary and entrepreneur at heart. After a decade as a New York City-based advertising and marketing executive -- creatively storytelling and solving business problems for Fortune 500 clients -- Elaine went to law school. Elaine spent her 2L year in a mediation clinic studying conflict resolution, mediation, arbitration and collaborative negotiation theory and strategy. She simultaneously spent hours a week honing her conflict management skills while mediating legal disputes in the New York state courts. At the intersection of advancing technology and diminishing human contact, Elaine anticipated the longer-term implications of technology on conflict and communication skills within the Knowledge Economy.

Foreseeing this monumental shift, Elaine taught collaborative negotiation at NYU and Baruch College and in the Leadership in Law Program at Columbia University. She has guest lectured at Emory University School of Law, Goizueta (MBA) Business School and Georgia Tech.

To date, Elaine has taught thousands of students and professionals the rewards and art forms of storytelling, collaborative articulation, writing, interviewing and career management utilizing collaborative communication. Elaine is frequently quoted as a workplace communications and managerial expert on Forbes.com.

Elaine’s co-founding of Access Test Prep in 2006 and then ProForm U coincided with the release of smart phones. Elaine saw first-hand that students and professionals, GenText® as she has dubbed them, began to struggle with written, verbal and behavioral communication skills. Developing college and graduate school lists, brainstorming and writing application essays, drafting resumes and cover letters, and preparing for interviews and managing careers, Elaine “bakes in” marketing, storytelling, conflict management, collaborative negotiation and legal written and verbal articulation skills when helping students apply to boarding schools, college, graduate schools (MBA, Law, Medical, Dental, etc.), internships, and jobs and then eventually assisting them as professionals managing their careers. Her clients land seats in the classroom and at the table, from state universities to the Ivy League and from Wall Street and the C-Suite to the White House. Their success lies dead center at the heart of storytelling, collaborative articulation, negotiation and communication.

In 2018, Elaine published her first book, “A Word and A $hake: Interview Storytelling Skills for GenText.®” Her second book, “From Shake to $hake: Interview Storytelling Blogs for GenText,®” was published in 2021.
